What is the difference between my Evergreen Bank Group debit card and a credit card?

Purchases are deducted directly from your primary checking account. You are not billed on a monthly basis and there is no interest to pay. It also functions as an Evergreen Bank Group ATM card providing you 24-hour access to your checking and savings accounts.

Where can I use my debit card?

You can use your Debit Card at locations including retail stores, restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, airlines, etc. In addition, since the Evergreen Bank Group Debit Card is an enhanced ATM card, you can use it at any Evergreen Bank Group ATM free of charge. It can also be used at any ATM displaying the Cirrus®, PLUS® and MoneyPass® logos.

How do I use my Evergreen Bank Group debit card?

When you make your purchase, you can either enter your PIN or use the Credit option when prompted, and the purchase amount will automatically be withdrawn from your Evergreen Bank Group checking account. At an ATM, use your Debit Card as you would an ATM card.

Why is the Evergreen Bank Group debit card better than writing a check?

The conveniences are many. First of all, there's no need to carry your checkbook and spend time writing checks. There are no monthly or annual fees, no finance charges and no credit card bills.

How do I keep track of my purchases?

All purchases and ATM transactions will be listed on your monthly checking account statement.

What happens when I need to return merchandise?

It's the same as returning merchandise purchased with a credit card or check. Be sure to save your receipt in case you need to return an item. You must resolve issues directly with the merchant.

What accounts can I access?

Debit Card purchases will be withdrawn ONLY from a designated Evergreen Bank Group checking account. For ATM use, you will be able to access the checking and savings accounts designated on your application.

What about fees?

When you make your purchase, you can either enter your PIN or use the Credit option when prompted, and the purchase amount will automatically be withdrawn from your Evergreen Bank Group checking account. There are no fees if you sign for your Debit Card purchases, use the Credit option or use an Evergreen Bank Group operated ATM.

What happens if my Evergreen Bank Group debit card is lost or stolen?

The security of your card is important to us. If you believe your card has been lost or stolen, call your local branch immediately. Oak Brook (630) 413-9580, Evergreen Park (708) 229-1010, Hinsdale (630) 590-4800, or Toll Free (888) 505-BANK. We will stop the use of your card and order a new one for you. To report a lost or stolen card after banking hours, call (866) 546-8273 to stop the use of your card immediately.

Are there any extra steps I can take to protect my debit card from fraud?

When you have a debit card with Evergreen Bank Group, you are automatically protected by our debit card Fraud Center which offers a superior fraud mitigation solution. By leveraging real-time data and advanced analytics, the Fraud Center helps detect and prevent unauthorized transactions before they happen. Cardholders are notified of high-risk transactions via text, email, or telephone using your contact information we have on file. If fraud is confirmed, the card is immediately disabled to prevent further activity. If the cardholder is not available to confirm the activity, the card is set to a blacked card status pending further investigation.
